I’m still here! Woo! I am definitely not missing the Georgia
humidity, but I do miss the familiarity of the south. Slowly, I am getting the
hang of the area that I am living in. So far, everyone on Grady LA is super fun
and friendly. I have not hung out with everyone yet, but it has been good so
far.
Visiting Fox Studios on Tuesday was absolutely awesome! Don
Sylvester, a sound editor at Fox for feature films, walked the group through the
lot and gave insight to the history of the famous company. Don showed the group
the process of post production sound. We watched the beginning of Wolverine
several times with each step. We also watched a scene from the new film, Mike and Dave Need Wedding Dates. Now
whenever I watch Fox films all I am going to think about is Don in the editing
room and the process he goes through before the film is complete. Of course at
the Fox gift shop, I had to buy a ‘Vote for Pedro’ shirt from the movie Napoleon Dynamite. I always wanted a ‘Vote
for Pedro’ shirt growing up so I feel like my inner kid is throwing a party
whenever I wear it.
Before going to the 12
Monkeys preview, I watched the trailer on IMDb and I was not impressed at
all. I was honestly very concerned that I would hate every second of being in
that theater. Surprisingly, I did not hate the show. I was very confused for a
while though since I had never seen the movie nor any previous episodes.
After the event at the Paley Center, a handful of people and
I went to The Hard Rock Café to see a free Grouplove concert. The show was not
very long since it was free, but they were shooting promotional stuff for their
upcoming album. It was great for a free concert.
Thursday was a very full day with class, movie screening,
and standup comedy show. The movie was pretty interesting to watch. I absolutely loved the director's short film that we watched beforehand. The concept was amazing and wrapped perfectly around the point of the short film. I was very inspired while watching.
